Be Spiritual not Religious

ūüéÄI am a sunshine girl, that is building her relationship with God from scratch, i share faith related topics and other random stuffs because i want the youth to make less mistakes and live a life that is intentional and pleasing to God, and themselves. Everything written here is based of my experience and/ or opinion, so don’t get it twisted.

I viewed Christianity as a complex relationship of laws and expectations instead of a mutual and sweet relationship with God, so i ended up not being myself. Not knowing i was deceiving myself, God, my soul and spirit, which is just not right. It took me some time to realize that my life in the open should not be any different from my life in private, because God sees, hears and feels everything before we even do them.

My point is God did not say Christians can not have fun or entertain themselves. What he did say is that we should flee and cut out worldly things from our life. My understanding of that is, if a song causes you to lust, indulge in an unhealthy and sinful behavior (stealing, smoking, pornography, etc) or makes you praise mankind and the things of the world more than you do, to and for your Heavenly Father, then you are lost in the world, and you need HIM in your life. We make Christianity hard for ourselves, by taking the Word literally instead of Understanding His Word, with the help of the Holy Spirit.

God uses the Holy Spirit to explain his teachings to us, to help us discern between what is good and right; and in other areas of our life we need to¬† make use¬† of our common sense. For instance, you know lusting after someone is a sin and bad, so you need to make the effort to occupy your mind with things that are just and acceptable to God e.g. Join a group, occupy your leisure time with fruitful activities such as dancing, painting, drawing, going to the gym, or hanging out with the right people, etc, all these activities can be enjoyed to glory of God; because the Holy Spirit is not going to come down and rescue you. He is already¬† inside those who seek him intentionally and on a daily basis. He helps us toughen our spirit to resist temptation, but the rest is up to you to bring your body under subjection to your spirit, that is why we the youth especially need to abstain from unnecessary relationships and other immoral acts because it draws you further away from God’s presence and causes you to sin prematurely.

God wants us to have fun, God wants us to be happy, but he wants us to use our common sense and wisdom from the Word to do what is right for our body, mind, soul and spirit, and most importantly pleasing to Him. So if you are doing something that is causing you to sin, no matter how big or small the sin is, it is still a SIN, and you need to work on it.

Ask God for help and direction, don’t sin with your eyes and don’t think you are too tough or stable not to fall into temptation, because the devil works in many subtle ways and will deceive you into thinking that what you are doing is normal or part of a growing process in biology (like hormonal changes).**sigh**

All in all, what i want you to pick from this message is that Understand the Word of God, don’t just read and memorize scriptures, let them make sense to you, even if that means reading it several times. And what you can not do in public, do not do in private. God sees you!, so make sure you are clean. You do not need to be perfect but you need to be spiritually tough and fit to be able to flee when it is time to flee. Let your Yes be your Yes and your No be your No.

Lessons Learned Part 1 and I am backūü§ó

WOW!

It’s been a minute since i last posted, well that is because Life happens my friend. It’s truly a roller coaster; scary, overwhelming and a little bit of everything, yet you have to enjoy it and just BE. Don’t leave the seat without screaming, shouting, stamping your feet, listening to to the rhythm of your breath, and coming out with a teary eye and a big fat smile; wanting to do it all over again. Live well, live smart, live good, live happy. The journey is going to change you, challenge you, make you cry, smile, scream and all sorts of things and emotions. But do not let them hold you from living a happy and meaningful life. Remember you only live once, so make it count, make it worth your while!


I have learned so much within the first half of 2018, probably more than what i am about to share with you now, but these lessons have greatly affected my perspective on life and how to live smart, wise and intentional. Lesson 1.¬† Everybody has problems, the fact that you don’t know about it or they do not tell you about it, does not mean they have a perfect life or that they are okay.

A great example is social media, the fact that you always see beautiful pictures of¬† people on insta, fb, or any other social media platform does not mean they have a perfect life. They are human, so obviously they will have some “ups” and “downs” in their life. Social media today, especially on Instagram, people choose only to post their happy and glamorous moments, which is perfectly fine, there is nothing wrong with that. You do not expect them to post the negative and sensitive aspects of their family or life matters, that is up to them to decide if they want to share it with the public or not. So do not think you are unfortunate or unlucky, because we all suffer at a point in our life. Although some suffer more than others, we all do suffer at a point.

PS.¬†Some just show off on social media, be it, that they have what they are showing off or not. So don’t stress yourself. ;

Lesson 2.¬† Be kind to Everybody, but don’t be afraid of Anybody.

Feel free to express yourself in the most harmless way to anyone, and do not mistake¬† respect and kindness for fear and shyness. They are totally different. I used to confuse them, but i know better now . I used to be the type of person that would just let things be, or not say much because i wanted to be nice and respectful, but deep down it did not feel good, because i was not outspoken. It is not the best feeling at all. There is nothing wrong with being outspoken or voicing out, it only becomes a problem if it’s not communicated well. (Because humans are sensitive, quick to judge and take things too personal at times, so treat everyone as if they were too emotional). Be considerate of your words, but also speak the truth. Because it is really frustrating and annoying when someone underestimate your entire being/existence or takes you for granted just because you are an introvert.

Lesson 3.  Take care of yourself spiritually, mentally and physically.

This is very important for a healthy, productive and fulfilling life. Your life has to be a balance, a little bit of everything makes your life bubbly and amazing. Be mentally and physically attractive for YOURSELF! DON’T DO IT FOR ANYBODY. Look and feel good for yourself, be mentally attractive as well; ponder over complex and mind-blowing stuff. Do and try something new often.

Mental health is such a big problem in this world now, so it is important to engage in physical and fruitful activities that will keep your mind in a right place. If you need help, confide in someone, and if you do not have anyone, the best person to cast your burdens on is God. It sounds cheesy, but it is the truth. There¬†were times i did not know who to talk to about my problems, i became a blabber mouth..lol, telling my problems to just anyone, and the wrong people at times. It’s not that i did not have anyone to talk to, but i felt the people i trusted would not understand my problem the way i did, because i used to be a very emotional person.¬†So later, i started to talk to myself by writing in a journal; i would cry, laugh and encourage myself and those series and episodes of emotions and experiences inspired me to create¬†this blog. It felt good journaling and having the mindset that “no condition is permanent.” God was helping me to motivate myself and stay strong through my journals, and i began to understand His Word more than before. He is real guys, he really cares and loves us 100%. He wants the best for us and he wants us to talk to him everyday like we do with our best friends, family, etc. I pray that you find peace and strength in the Lord as you read this, no matter what you are going through. Don’t fall yet, don’t end it. It is not the way, it is not right. I also suggest limiting your time watching social media, it’s fun and all, but sometimes just silence the social-virtual life and live in the real life e.g Go for a walk, ride a bike, go to the gym, crochet, play math games,listen to inspirational podcasts, the list could go on and on. You know it!, you know what works for you, learn about yourself and what works for you ;). My goal is to be 100% spiritual, 100% mentally healthy, and attain my fitness goals 100% ; I will do so by working equally hard towards all of them, and I hope you do same.

Lesson 4.¬† You don’t always get what you want, the way you want it, and when you want it.

This lesson has taught me to be patient in life. I am still learning how to be patient and not to expect things so quickly and out of nowhere…lol. Patience is really hard to tame, it takes daily experience, challenges and certain circumstances to really develop and cultivate it. Be very positive, but keep in mind, that life as you see it, does not always give you what you want or what you want to hear. So always expect and prepare for any outcome, just do your part; do your best and do anything you do with confidence and to the best of your ability, and leave the rest for God and mother nature to take care of.

Be ready to compromise when necessary, accept the things you can not change, and change what you can. Have at least 3-5 backup plans in terms of an idea, project, goals,etc and life will not betray you.

Lesson 5.¬† Don’t compare yourself to others, You are enough!

Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with wanting to be the best version of yourself and being comfortable in life. The real problem starts the minute, you start wishing you were someone else, had their lifestyle and every other tempting and materialistic stuff. Instead let them–the people you are comparing yourself to, be an inspiration or point of reference for you to release your inner potential, to become what you have always envisioned for yourself, by working smart and hustling hard.

Have a thankful heart at all times, because somebody might wish they had what you appreciate less in your life.

Moreover, you do not know how people become what they are, whether it was through a right/ meaningful way or worth it. You can however choose how your success story will be made. So be grateful, because a grateful heart is like a magnet that attracts miracles and blessings from above. I stopped comparing myself to others, when i started channeling it into working on the things i want to achieve and by focusing. Because all the people we compare ourselves to, all started from somewhere to get to where they are now. So can i, and so can you. So change your mentality and get to work. Comparing yourself to others is a waste of precious time, You are ENOUGH! So stay and shine in your lane.

MOTIVATION WITH A PURPOSE

 

Motivation without purpose is not enough.

Motivation is great but will not get you where you want to be, it will only cause you to day dream about the things you hope for. Once you have a solid purpose to back up the things you hope for, your motivation becomes meaningful and the actions you take towards achieving your dream(s) begin to pay off for your good.

Have reasons to be motivated. Ask yourself, “what is the reason i must be/do…?” not “I must be/do… because of…,”¬†while the first sentence in bold¬†is deeply immersed with motivation and purpose, the second sentence sounds hypocritical. The first sentence affirms¬† that there is an important reason as to why something is being done and therefore the¬†reason¬†will serve as an energy or boost to act¬†and¬†do). On the contrary, the second statement is not energy driven because it focuses on pleasing¬†“external forces”- and that is motivation without a solid purpose; not the best way to accomplish a dream.

The reason why we have the “I can achieve and do anything energy/spirit” after watching a motivational video or listening to a motivational message, but in an hour or week later completely forget about our goal driven energy is that, we focus on how to get motivated (we seek encouragement,validation,¬†solutions and answers) from these videos and messages whilst forgetting the most important thing; which is how we can change ourselves for the better by actually taking action and making tremendous use of the motivational speeches, videos, etc.

Motivational videos, quotes, songs and messages are not just there to motivate you. They serve as a call to action, to improve and change you. Do not be a victim of a temporary boost!. The next time you are watching a motivational video, pause and replay it repeatedly till the message sinks into your mind and soul, and if need be, jot down a few points that relate to your current situation and what you have learnt that can make you an effective and successful being and then start to act and move relentlessly.

Aspire to make a difference, not a living.

Before you get motivated:

  1. Have a plan, reason or purpose
  2. Incorporate discipline into achieving your plan,reason or purpose and take massive action towards them (Life goals, dreams and future)
  3. Attach deadlines to each and every goal until you check them off. (It can be weekly, monthly, yearly or even future goals)
  4. Condition your mind to be the best everyday and do not settle for less. You deserve great things.

Now bear in mind, it is normal for those deadlines to change/shift depending on situations/circumstances or what “life throws at us.” So you need to ¬†constantly make changes or adjust the deadlines where necessary and let your goals motivate you. With direction from God and this positive way of exercising¬†the brain, mind and soul, the sky will not be your limit because there are no limits for YOU. There are only plateaus which you must go beyond and overcome.

Motivation is like food for the brain, you can not get enough at a sitting. You need continual and regular refills of purpose mixed in motivation. Motivation with purpose will lighten up anyone’s life.
